It was named by the American Geographical Society in 1947 for Thomas Christmas Riggs, Jr.
The Riggs Glacier is a glacier located in Glacier Bay National Monument in Alaska.
It heads on southern slope of Takhinsha Mountains, 6 km SE of Mount Harris, trends SSE to head of Muir Inlet, 69 km SW of Skagway, Saint Elias Mountains.
