Thomas Mifflin (January 10 1744 - January 20 1800) was the fifth President of the United States in Congress under the Articles of Confederation holding office from November 3 1783 to November 29 1784.
He was preceded in office by Elias Boudinot and succeeded by Richard Henry Lee.
When it comes to opera artists, my motto is "The more Gedda, the bettah." You get a substantial amount of him at his best on this CD, which has a lot of great duets from a variety of operas.

During the war, Thomas Mifflin was commissioned brigadier-general, later serving as President of the Continental Congress, and succeding Benjamin Franklin as President fo the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania.
His son, Thomas Watkins (1771-1844), was an early pioneer of Southern Ohio and operated a farm in Guernsey County, Ohio.
Thomas' son, John Watkins (1804-1876) settled on Wheeling Island as a young man, with a home convenient to his business as a steamboat engineer and river pilot.

Editor's Note: Portsmouth poet Thomas Bailey Aldrich died in 1907 and a year later his family home became one of the country's first house museums scrupulously restored to an earlier time in history.
Aldrich (as she preferred to be called) was introduced to her husband by actor Edwin Booth, brother of the actor/assassin John Wilkes Booth.

Thomas Galloway of Cincinnati says it is family tradition among the Indiana descendants that he bought land in Kentucky, but was somehow defrauded out of it, something to do with a fraudulent title.
Ruth Galloway married Thomas Farrel in St. James Parish on April 6, 1794; she was the daughter who initiated the suit against her brother, Aquilla Galloway, for better disposition of the property left to them by their father, Thomas Galloway.
Thomas was orginally a tenant on this 175 acre tract.

Thomas and Martha lived in Kentucky from 1817-1825 and the rest of the time in Georgetown and then in Prince Georges Co, Md. On the 1830 census they were listed as having two daughters, one born between 1815-1820 and the other born between 1820-1825.
She was the daughter of Thomas Hobbs and granddaughter of Joshua Hobbs, all of Nelson Co. Edwin and Nancy moved to Lincoln Co., MO, in 1840's and he died there in 1850's.
Query: Thomas J. NELSON was born on 16 Oct 1823 in Nelson Co, KY and married Rebecca E. He died on 22 Dec 1907.

On the last Saturday of June, 1843, in the southern part of Slippery Rock Township, was enacted a deed of brutal slaughter as fiendish and as savage as any embraced in the annals of Indian warfare.
Roman EYTH kept it from 1850 to 1856, and Martin EYTH until 1861, when he sold the property to William S. BOYD and Bro., from whom it was purchased in 1862 by Francis EYTH, present owner.
