Parry also admitted to having talked with Elizabeth of a marriage and to having learned from Mistress Ashley that the princess had left the Seymour household after being found by the former Queen in her husband's arms.
Parry is said to have been the chief promoter of Lord Dudley's proposed marriage with the Queen and, to him, Sir Nicholas Throckmorton, the French Ambassador, addressed, in Nov 1560, a vigorous remonstrance on the subject.
Parry's claims on Elizabeth were those of a faithful servant rather than an adviser, but the position was to be obscured by his premature death on 15 Dec 1560, of ‘mere ill-humour’, according to popular report.
