  Selection of graves for Memory Hill Cemetery
Thomas Petters Carnes[1a] served as a colonel in the Maryland Line and later received several thousand acres of bounty land in Franklin County, Georgia.
Carnes was a member of Congress from March 4, 1793 to March 3, 1795.
Thomas Petter Carnes was originally buried in the "Old Cemetery" near Milledgeville.

It is possible they drifted to various places before settling, as did Thomas Petters Carnes, who was born in Maryland and educated there.
In that county is Carnesville, named for Thomas Petters Carnes, a Colonel, Solicitor, Attorney General, and Judge of the state of Georgia.
