Thomas Townsend Brown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomas Townsend Brown (March 18, 1905 October 22, 1985) was an American physicist.
Brown was born in Zanesville, Ohio; his parents were Lewis K. and Mary Townsend Brown.
Brown was an early investigator of UFOs and in 1956 helped found the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP).

Thomas Townsend Brown (March 18, 1905 – October 22, 1985) was an American physicist.
In 1921, Brown discovered what was later called the Biefeld-Brown effect while experimenting with a X-ray tube.
Though the effect he discovered has been proven to exist by many others, Brown's work was controversial due to the fact that others and even he himself believed that this effect could explain the existence of UFOs.

From figs.27(i) and (ii) can be seen the diagrammatic form of a rig made by Thomas Townsend Brown which, according to film footage taken at the time (presumably in the late 50’s) by his colleges, hovered in the air about six feet off the ground when connected up to a high voltage source.
Brown at one stage, using empirical data, calculated a potential difference between two such ambient fields to be as high as 15 million volts — from a small prototype ‘disc’ model with a power source of just 50 kV (see Philadelphia Experiment page).
The ultimate TT Brown ufo structure is to be found in the ‘wide-brimmed-hat’ type, the essence of which is depicted in the Piatan craft seen by one Helio Augiar back in 1959 at Salvador in Brazil (see figs.30 and 31).

This engineering feat by Townsend Brown, was all the more remarkable when we consider such a machine produces thrust with no moving parts, does not use any aerodynamic principles of flight, and has neither control surfaces, nor a propeller.
Brown did not start with round objects, in fact, the first object that flew, was a triangle, the next a square, then a square with the edges cut off, and finally a round shaped saucer.
The Townsend Brown experiments indicate that the positive field which is travelling in front of the saucer acts as a buffer wing which starts moving the air out of the way.

Thomas Townsend Brown, an American physicist, was born March 18, 1905 in Zanesville, Ohio and died October 22, 1985 on Catalina Island, California.
Thomas Townsend Brown from which the Biefeld-Brown Effect takes it name was a student of Dr. Paul Alfred Biefeld who had noticed that vacuum tubes would lurch slightly forward in the direction of the positive pole.
In 1957 TT Brown patented a device that demonstrated the "Graviton" effect, but his work became very controversial due to the similarity between his work and what is believed to be the propulsion method of some observed UFO's which the country became obsessed with.

Transcending the Control System: The Biefeld-Brown Effect
Brown’s British patent #300,111 – issued in 1927 – described what he termed a “cellular gravitator” consisting of numerous metal plates interleaved with dielectric plates, the entire block wrapped in insulating material and end plates connected to output electrodes and a spark gap to limit the input voltage.
Brown’s 1927 patent, however, described a self-contained device that exhibited no ion wind effects and relied solely upon the electrogravitational action arising from the electric dipoles within the gravitator-capacitor.

Brown observed that after a time the discs did not swing quite so far as initially, in either direction, with the same electric charge.

I was just thumbing through some of Townsend Brown's correspondence from the last year of his life, and found a letter he wrote to somebody named Josh Reynolds on April 4, 1984.
It may seem odd to readers that the body of Townsend Brown's biography begins not with the early, formative days Brown's life in the early 1900s, but with the beginnings of a romance between Brown's daughter Linda and a mysterious transfer student into Linda's high school in a Philadelphia suburb in the mid-1960s.
Ineed, such intimations are central to this entire Townsend Brown investigation, because all such reports invariably trace their origins to Brown's work, and the mysteries that surround his life do nothing to dissuade such implications.

The Biefield-Brown Effect, as found by Thomas Townsend Brown in the late 1920's, produced a slight weight change in a specially constructed capacitor when it was subjected to an extremely high DC voltage
One of the major drawbacks of T. Brown's devices were that they required hundreds of thousands to millions of volts to produce a weight change of only a few percent.

 B2 Bomber Antigravity
According to electrogravitic research carried out by physicist T. Townsend Brown, such a differential space charge would set up an artificial gravity field that would induce a reactionless force on the aircraft in the direction of the positive pole.
By 1958, he had succeeded in developing a 15 inch diameter model saucer that could lift over 110% of its weight!(5) Brown's experiments had launched a new field of investigation which came to be known as electrogravitics, the technology of controlling gravity through the use of high-voltage electric charge.
An underlying theme is that T. Brown propulsion, once developed, will usher in an age of flight so revolutionary it will make all previous aviation, from the Wright brothers to space shuttles, constiute the Stone Age of flight.

A Report on the T. Townsend Brown Conference
I had of course heard of Brown's flying tethered disk experiments, and the larger ones which were classified by the military, but I did not know about his 1934 patent and his existing research notes which hint at the ability to tap into a free energy type of force field.
It is very interesting to note that Townsend Brown was the pioneer in this field, and was not able to obtain very much support for his work until the 1950's.
Since Brown's experiments with disks appeared to be able to defy gravity (somewhat like John Searl's disks), there was some discussion at the conference regarding flying saucers, UFOs, the Philadelphia Experiment, and the Montak Project.

In 1999, we discovered references from the 1970’s concerning a purported anti-gravity or weight alteration anomaly discovered by Thomas Townsend Brown, who is more famously known among the New Science community for his work with electrical field propulsion.
As mentioned previously, Thomas Townsend Brown may have observed this effect or variations of it in his experiments in the early 1970’s.
However, Brown was clearly perplexed by the nature of what he saw and confessed to have no theoretical opinion of it apart from what might relate to his ideas concerning rock-electricity and massive dielectric transducers of gravity waves.
