Thomas Walter Scott (known less formally as Walter Scott) (October 27, 1867-March 23, 1938) was the first Premier of the province of Saskatchewan in Canada (1905-1916).
Scott was born in 1867, in rural southwestern Ontario, the child of an unmarried mother, a secret he carried with himself for the rest of his life.
In August 1908, Walter Murray, a philosophy professor from the Maritimes, was appointed as the first president of the new institution, although the site of the university had not yet been determined.

Philadelphia-born architect Thomas Ustick Walter, son of bricklayer Joseph Saunders Walter and his wife Deborah Wood Walter, has proved to be the most important American architect between Benjamin Henry Latrobe and Henry Hobson Richardson.
It was in 1850, however, when Walter entered the competition for the design for the extension of the United States Capitol, that his place in American architecture was firmly established.
Walter was elected first Vice-President of the AIA in 1857 and served as President from 1876 until 1887.

In 1851, Walter was appointed to design extensions for the Capitol at Washington, D.C., which had remained unchanged since the completion of Bulfinch's plans in 1830.
Holding the post of government architect until 1865, Walter added the wings for the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as the soaring central dome of cast iron, replacing Bulfinch's low dome, and rebuilt the west front.
At Washington, D.C., Walter also designed the interior of the Library of Congress and built extensions for the Post Office, the Patent Office, and the Treasury.
