Thor (often called The Mighty Thor) is a superhero in the Marvel Comics universe, based on the thunder god of Norse mythology.
Thor often battled his evil adoptive brother Loki, a Marvel character adapted from the Norse god of mischief, and was a member of the superhero group the Avengers.
In Marvel Comics, Loki is dark haired, is the son of the deceased frost giant Laufey instead of being a god of fire, and is the adopted brother of Thor rather than a blood brother of Odin.

This is the comic that introduced The Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, The Angel, Ka-Zar and other characters to the comics-reading world — but more important, it introduced a company that would eventually grow to be an industry giant.
Marvel Comics may have been the name of the comic (for one issue, anyway — with #2, it became Marvel Mystery Comics), but it wasn't the name of the publisher.
Marvel exploited the superhero trend to the hilt — then dropped it like a hot potato when it was no longer paying off.

A typically flawed modern Marvel hero, Dr. Don Blake walked with a limp and used a cane until he discovered the long-lost hammer of the ancient god Thor.
Marvel's first editor, Joe Simon, theorized that kid companions like Captain America's Bucky were important because they gave the protagonist someone to talk to; Spider-Man talked to himself.

Don Markstein's Toonopedia: The Mighty Thor
It became hard to reconcile the lame doctor with Thor's eons-old relationships with his fellow deities, so a retcon was concocted by way of explanation: Blake had been Thor all along, sentenced by Odin to inhabit a less magnificent body, his memory erased, until he got over his rather insufferable pride.
He was one of the stars of the half-hour Marvel Super Heroes animated series, along with Captain America and The Sub-Mariner, which was syndicated from 1966-68 — but considering the esteem in which those cartoons are held, that's no great honor.
But in the comic books where he was born, he has been a prominent part of the Marvel Universe since its very early days — and retains that position even now.

Thor (Marvel Comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thor (often called The Mighty Thor) is a fictional comic book character in the Marvel Comics universe, based on the god Thor from Norse mythology and throughout his history generally acting in the role of superhero.
Thor's other mortal foes include the Wrecking Crew and the Grey Gargoyle, but among his powerful foes are the Asgardian monsters as Mangog, the Frost Giants, the Enchanters Three, the Midgard Serpent and the fire-demon Surtur.

He [Thor] might also worship their ancestors, such as Odin's father, Odin's grandfather, and the Elder of the Universe (I think he was an Elder) called Demiurge, from whose essence all of the Earth's pantheons sprang in the first place, at least according to the original Asgardian origin (not the "alien" one).

Creations like Spider-Man, The X-Men and, of course, Thor, may be well established icons of popular culture these days, but they made their humble debut on the pages of Marvel comics.
As opposed to the usual superhero mould where the central character was graced with humility, Thor could be an arrogant figure at times and not afraid of boasting of his exploits mid-battle.
Thor was also a founding member of the superhero team The Avengers alongside Ant-Man, Wasp, Iron Man and the Hulk, althoigh the latter was eventually replaced by Captain America.

Thor (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thor (often called The Mighty Thor) is a Marvel Comics superhero, based on the thunder god of Norse mythology.
This is Thor in the tradition of Asterix, Lucky Luke, Gilles de Geus, with this difference that where those series are using history as source material, Peter Madsen uses mythology for his series Valhalla (comic) (1978), with the same freedom to make jokes about current reality or other works of fiction, mostly following the Eddas.
Thor is here rather correctly put, as the honest, red bearded muscular, powerful god, with a bit of extra human weaknesses to keep the comic funny.
