At their beginning, they had a style that was close to doom metal, but, little by little, it evolved towards gothic metal, emphasizing melancolic themes or alternately, in the way of the band Theatre of Tragedy, having cavernous masculine voices and soprano feminine voices.
In 1994, the founders of the band, Chris and Stefanos, moved for graduate studies to Romania, where they also had some local musicians in their band.
The current line-up of the band was formed in 2001, when the band founders returned to Greece.

Thorns was just someone that we´ve known for quite some time now.
We liked what he had to offer as a vocalist but we were not happy at all with his activities outside the band that included drugs and alcohol.
The only lyrics that Thorns wrote were the ones from the track "The Night has a Thousand Eyes".

The American band Thorns Of The Carrion started out in 1993 and after two demos they decided to record this debut album which was released in June 1997.
The band is part of the American doom metal scene which has come to grow rather big during the second half of the 1990's.
The beautiful keyboards and flutes from the band's only female member Leslie Anderson is a very important part of their music and without these elements they would not be much more than an average doom metal band but much thanks to her Thorns Of The Carrion manage to create some interesting songs.

Arise From Thorns is a band that continually reinvents themselves.
Here her voice mingles among the guitars during the chorus, but remains easily discernible, which in many times is a problem with bands that have a decent number of instruments going at once.

There are bands out there that have a great spiritual sense about them, but unfortunately they are not widely revered by a majority of people.

 MP Forumer in Chris Caffery's (Savatage; TSO) band!
The band was just confirmed to be headlining the Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles Festival in Cleveland in May, so they should be getting some great exposure during the tour!
Yeah Dave Z was in that band, then he played with a lot of really famous people including TSO and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
He was supposed to be in the Chris Caffery Band but scheduling with ZO2, his main band, wasn't working out.
