		He explored many combinations from violin and cello sonatas, to large scale quintets, sextets and nonets using winds, strings and piano.
		Fortunately, Thorofon and Horst Gobel (founder of the Gobel Trio Berlin) have recently concluded a project began in 1989 to record all of the chamber music, thus making available on recordings for the first time the complete scope of Rheinberger's accomplishments in the form.
		This is the version Thorofon choose to include in their survey.

		The liner notes are very full but I would have valued something about the plot of the Celan opera and more about the dates and premiere details of Ruzicka’s works.
		It is my misfortune not to be a German speaker so I was sorry that Thorofon had not commissioned the Berridges to translate the sung German text printed on pp.
		By the way this disc is stunningly recorded; combining transparency with impact.

		Robert Fuchs (1847-1927) is billed as 'The Lost Romantic.' Unknown today, his famed pupils included Mahler, Sibelius, Schmidt, Wolf, etc. His works are in the late Brahms tradition of Romanticism but his textures are lighter and scherzos have more bounce (like Mendelssohn).

		Unfairly overlooked as one of Brahms’ circle or as the composer of the moderately known Serenade in D major, Robert Fuchs had his own quietly distinctive voice and it’s heard particularly effectively in the series of violin sonatas he wrote between 1877 and 1919.
		The second volume in Thorofon’s series is devoted to the second, third and sixth in the cycle and their dedications range from the Old World, Joachim (who declined the premiere of the Third), to the Heir Apparent, Adolf Busch, to whom Fuchs dedicated the Sixth.
