 Invisible thread
However, I stopped using it when I realized that my husband's fishing line was similar to this thread, and it was getting brittle and breaking when exposed to light over a period of time.
I just finished machine quilting a quilt for my oldest son using that thread on the top, and a 50/3 neutral color in the bobbin and was most pleased with how it quilted and how it looks.
I quilted only wall hangings with invisible thread and they have not experienced any undue wear and tear on them, such as a bed quilt might receive.

SWT: Respond to Long Running Tasks
In addition, when you begin modularizing and breaking apart your code, a certain block of code may not be in a position to truly be aware if it is running on the event dispatch thread.
As opposed to checking the thread that you are currently on to determine if it is best to execute the runnable directly, you *do* have the option of always simply passing the runnable to the dispatch thread in question.
The commonly accepted solution is for those long running operations to be executed on a background thread, leaving the event dispatch thread open to respond to user interaction, but then asking for a small unit-of-work to be executed *back* on the event dispatch thread, to ensure that any UI updates occur from the correct thread.

 Why Change Instruction Sets?; 10/25/1999
More modern workstation applications are designed to run effectively on two or more processors by breaking themselves into parallel threads.
TLP is less effective in smaller systems, where only one or two threads do most of the work.
Most server applications today have a number of software processes, or threads, that can be assigned to individual processors, and these applications run effectively on systems with 4, 8, or even 64 processors.

I love tuscadero's idea of setting the pace/pattern from the beginning because it is hard to break out of once it has settled into a pattern.
Mind you, even if he's healthy and okay, if you guys are seeing each other constantly then he may feel weird if you spend some time without him - but better to alter patterns now than later, when they're ingrained.

 Performance tuning
Breaking the code to threads in order to maximize the parallelism will become a general practice as part of the programming work in most of the domains and not just HPC (high performance computing) as it used to be in the past.
Given that processor resources are generally under-utilized, thread-level parallelism can improve overall application performance by running multiple threads in parallel to achieve higher utilization and increased throughput.
After gaining the performance improvement on the code by threading, by cleaning micro architectural bottlenecks and/or by programming with SIMD instructions (SSE, SSE2 and/or Prescott new instruction) the students will submit their code back to the open source tree and publish a paper describing what they did and the parallelism techniques they used.

 Preventive Sewing-Machine Maintenance
When you sew, the needle passes through the fabric thousands of times per minute, and each time it does two things: It makes a hole in the fabric for the thread to glide through, and it forms a loop with the thread to make the actual stitch.
For example, a size 70/10 needle is the right choice for fine fabrics like silk, but use only a size 60 or 65 with fine, lightweight thread, like lingerie thread.
A sharp needle, like a Microtex or Jeans needle, is the better choice when sewing natural-fiber woven fabrics than the Universal needle, which has a slight ballpoint and was developed to glide between synthetic polyester fibers without breaking them.

 Annotea Protocols
Note that when a discussion thread is not stored in the same server as the annotation to which it is attached, there is no protection against making an orphan discussion thread; that is, the root annotation may be deleted, thus breaking the link from discussion thread to that annotation.
Replies can also be made to other replies and thus promote threads of discussion.
For example, in order to unclutter a heavily annotated document, a user may want only to display annotations made by certain users, or attached to a part of the document, or that were modified in the past 24 hours, or that correspond to a combination of these filters.

 RTAI API: Nanokernel mutex services.
This mechanism should be understood as a lock-breaking preemption point atomically performed just before the current thread is switched out.
However, the nanokernel provides for a special mechanism that releases a given interface mutex atomically when xnpod_suspend_thread() is called for the current thread, reacquiring it on return of this routine.
Mutexes are internal synchronization objects that do NOT rely on the standard nanokernel scheduling routines to operate.

 Imperial,whitworth spanners and wrenches.
Scaffold spanners are available in whitworth, with or without a podger.I can also supply model specific wheel braces in imperial sizes.Forget worrying about breaking your 1/2 drive bar with tight wheel studs, some of these braces are made from two inch diameter solid steel!.
Those working on older machinery are likely to come across various thread forms. The modern metric plus unf, unc,ba,whitworth,BSF,cycle thread, gas and others.I can supply most of these, please ask.
A box spanner or six sided (six point) socket the closest size upwards might be a solution in an emergency (ie) a 19mm spanner will possibly undo a 3/4 af nut. These have greater tolerance than 12 sided sockets but there is always a risk of damage to socket and or the fastening.

Cost x3 High Explosive Flechettes These have a thread of high explosive inside the body of the flechette that breaks it up inside the target. This causes similar effects to the fragmentation flechettes, as the remains of the flechette stay in the body.

The silk in particular is a very durable thread and less prone to breaking during the weaving process.
If your brocade thread breaks during the weaving process (or if you need to start a new piece), undo your weaving until you have enough to anchor the new brocade weft and still be able to lock in the old piece; again with a pass or two alongside the ground weft.
Tablet weaving was in common usage across Europe from time of the great Roman Empire right up to the sixteenth century, used as belts and straps, and as decoration on shoes, clothes and headpieces.

 Reliability
The reliability problem occurs when a thread uses Abort to terminate another thread—or when AppDomain.Unload is called, which has the effect of calling Abort on all threads currently executing in the target domain or that have an existing stack frame from that domain.
When setting up reliability contracts for your own methods, keep in mind that it is considered a breaking change to lower your Cer or Consistency guarantees.
With the default runtime policy, that thread will never be aborted, and an unmanaged host that requires reliability guarantees needs some way to deal with this scenario.
