Swansea Bay (Welsh: Bae Abertawe) is an inlet of the Bristol Channel lying south of Swansea, Wales.
For the last two decades of the 20th Century, the bay was blighted by pollution, partly from the surrounding heavy industry and partly from sewerage outlets being sited at inadequte locations.
Efforts have been made by the local authority to reduce the pollution in the bay but care had to be taken to ensure the pollution did not move to the popular beach resorts on the south Gower instead.

Three of the chambers have sills partially blocking their entrances, and the northerly pair are divided in two by internal sills.
Human bone of uncertain date was found inside the chamber in 1864, and later excavations revealed it was used as a burial chamber in the bronze age.
One possible alignment is with one of three bronze age cairns on Cefn Bryn excavated by Ward in the 1980s.

Three Cliff Bay is one of the most photographed areas of Gower and is also commonly known as Three Cliffs.
Three Cliff itself is a common feature that many climbers head for too.
When the tide is in, it becomes impossible to cross the river heading towards Parkmill, so if you can't climb the sand dunes, take care not to get cut off as the tide sometimes comes in around the sides of the beach and leaves a sandy island in the middle - but not for long.

It is perched on the edge of the valley of the Pennard Pill, with a sheer drop below to the north and west.
From it there is a sweeping view out towards Three Cliffs Bay, and across the valley to Penmaen Burrows.

 Three Cliffs Bay Caravan & Camping Site , Swansea Campsite review
There is a charge of 30p for the showers which some people do object to, it does ensure that everyone can access the showers as this limits people from spending longer than necessary in them.
Camped with great view of the bay with only penalty being slope of the site, but worth it for the view while cooking breakfast.
We visited Three Cliffs on a bank holiday weekend so it was pretty busy.

A very beautiful beach at the northern end of Three Arch Bay, Shell Cove is sheltered by Whale Island on the south and rugged cliffs to the north.
This is a photograph taken during the winter, when the strong Pacific storms remove most of the sand from the beach, leaving a very rocky shoreline behind.

I asked a likely-looking local (out walking her dog and husband) where to pick up the path to Three Cliffs and she told me, but seemed quite quizzed out that I intended to go all the way there on foot.
The first bay is Pwlldu, then Caswell, then Langland/Rotherslade, and round that final headland we'd find Limeslade and Bracelet Bays.
I got off at Sketty, walked through the park, just missed another bus on Mumbles Road (three times in the last fortnight has a bus pulled out as I ran to catch it, being less than 30 feet from the back of the bus when it disappeared), and finally made it home at 7:30.
