		Throwing Copper is not only Live's most successful release (six-million-plus copies sold) but also the best showcase for Kowalczyk's fierce vocal prowess.
		"The Dam At Otter Creek" and "White Discussion" act as ominous bookends to THROWING COPPER; the former a spooky tale of murder, the latter a raging, apocalyptic vision of a dying earth.
		Throwing Copper, the band's newest, is decidedly more poppy, although no less heavy than Mental Jewelry, and favors thickened, more traditional arrangements.

		I noticed the album Throwing Copper included many of the songs from the Unplugged concert so I bought it.
		The opening track of Throwing Copper, 'The Dam at Otter Creek', is the weakest on the album and is not helped at all by a distorting effect on the vocals.
		Throwing Copper is the album that put the band's career into high gear and it gets my recommendation.

		The instruments are nowhere near as important as the vocals, for the most part, but they aren't as formless and primitive as were plenty of alt-rock bands, and they nicely mix both acoustic and hard rock stylings.

		Secret Samadhi" was the album that totally devoted me to live, but "Throwing Copper" was my first encounter with the band.
		Throwing Copper - Live "Live" would have to be the silliest name for a band since "The Band." The first time I heard Live was on an MTV Unplugged special following REM.

		Throwing Copper is machine pieced using the foundation piecing technique - a "quilt-by-numbers" sort of thing.
		The faces are hand embroidered and all other quilting was done by machine.

	Live: Throwing Copper
		To this day, it is the album everybody credits as their best, even though I personally like "Samadhi" just a little better (see notes to that album).
		Anyway, "Throwing Copper" is a totally tough rock album with so much energy and emotion at the same time.
		Live are masters of the difficult art of being able to write a dynamic rock song without losing the delicate touch that just makes the song grow on you with almost no stopping it.

		Interesting how vocalist Ed Kowalzic speaks "when all that's left to do is reflect on what's been done" as the first words of "Throwing Copper" instead of the last.
		"Throwing Copper" on a whole concentrates more on Kowalzic's soft poetics and his hammer-of-the-gods yaup than the ham-fisted religious approach pervading later Live releases.
		Glimmers of his eastern zen influences creep out of the shadows of the latter half of the album, but are more hypnotic than preachy.

		Throwing Copper is not as heavy as it's predicessor, Secret Samadhi, but the band rocks with modern rock hits "Lightning Crashes", "Selling The Drama", "All Over You", and "I Alone".
		Ed Kowalczyk sings his heart out on the hits "Lightning Crashes" (which stayed at #1 on the Mainstream Charts for 10 weeks) and "I Alone", as well as virtually every song on the album.

		Live's press bio reads, "Taylor's guitar and Kowalczyk's [vocals] can subtly guide you into dark, thoughtful places." Dark is the operative word.
		Either way, Throwing Copper is an oppressive disc with nothing of value to communicate to teens.
		The rewards of parenting seem few and far between.
