Since all publications since 1844 have cited Thujopsis and the genus is widely known by that name in the horticultural trade and to others who have occasion to deal with it, Farjon and Hunt (1994) have proposed conservation of the name Thujopsis.
One species, Thujopsis dolabrata (Thunberg ex Linnaeus f.) Siebold and Zuccarini 1844 (syn: Thuja dolabrata Thunberg ex Linnaeus f.
Monoecious trees to 15 m tall; bark thin, gray or reddish brown, peeling off in long strips; crown pyramidal; branches ascending; branchlets 4-6 mm in diameter, arranged in a plane, flattened, lower side with white powder.

According to the Great Plant Picks profile for Thujopsis dolabrata (PDF), it also has two other common names, both inspired by the shape of the scale-like leaves: deerhorn cedar and battle axe cedar.
The Gymnosperm Database entry for this monotypic genus, Thujopsis, imparts a story about how the genus should technically have a different name, since it was earlier named Dolophyllum.

 PDN -- Thujopsis dolabrata 'Hondai'
This selection of thujopsis from northern Japan is much more tolerant of heat and sun than the species.
The appearance is similar to regular thujopsis with flat fans of swollen, glossy green, arborvitae-like foliage.
Eventually, it will make a very elegant specimen, a small conical tree, but it will form a nice compact 3-4' wide bush for the first 4-5 years until the central leader begins to develop.

I've had Thujopsis variegata for only about 4 years, and it has been fairly slow growing here in Ohio...
As for names, you're right on the Thujopsis, Ron, but the name of the other is as I had it in my original posting.
UK champion 'Cantab' is 17m, and largest Thujopsis 25m tall (that's the type, not 'Variegata', but 'Variegata' hardly differs).

I guess the Gymnosperm Database is just listing the average maximum height in the wild as 50'.
These are Thujopsis dolabrata located in Washington, D.C. at the US National Arboretum and while I don't know their climate other than they are in USDA Zone 7 (which really doesn't mean "jack") - I'm not able to comment on any other climatic issues such as rainfall or temperature:
