COMMEMORATING THE 158th death anniversary of the unparalleled `vaggeyakara', Thyagarajaswamy, the local Thyagaraja Aradhana Trust under the stewardship of its president, C.S.N. Raju, organised a five-day fete of the recitals of his compositions starting from Pushyabahula Panchami the day on which he attained liberation.
``Thyagaraja stands specially revered not only for his lyrics replete with instant flow of Bhakti but also for splendid song form that involuntarily flows in most appropriate `raga' and `tala' in praise of Rama," said the chief guest, Sadguru K. Sivananda Murthy at the inauguration.

SRUTI, The India Music and Dance Society, celebrated the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana music festival on March 6th at Villanova University, Villanova, PA. It was an all day event attended by about 270 people.
The procession was introduced as a new concept this year and was well received by the audience.

Starting this year, the Aradhana Committee will be conducting a Bharatanatyam competition as part of the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana.
Dancers will be competing for a grand prize package featuring the exclusive opportunity to give a 1½ hour solo dance performance, under the auspices of the Aradhana Committee, at a leading sabha in Chennai, India during the December 2007 music and dance season.
