I am a proud owner of a big Tibouchina, which i regularly prune to be able to keep it inside at least one part of the year.
I don't have a Tibouchina of my own, as I think my region in Northern Italia is a bit cold (-8°C are not uncommon here in winter).
However, a friend of mine in a coastal zone has beautiful specimens, which did not die at about -2°C to -3°C. So it is rather frost hardy I would say.
