Tilden Regional Park is a regional park in the East Bay, part of the San Francisco Bay Area in the U.S. state of California.
Tilden is named in honor of Charles Lee Tilden, a Bay Area industrialist who purchased much of the land in order to preserve remaining wilderness areas for public enjoyment.
The park is managed by the East Bay Regional Park District, created from the first land the district purchased in 1936.

The East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) is a public authority operating in Alameda County and Contra Costa County, California, within the East Bay area of the San Francisco Bay Area.
It maintains and operates a system of regional parks which is the largest urban park district in the United States.
Particularly notable are the string of parks along the ridge of the East Bay hills, including Wildcat Canyon Regional Park and Tilden Regional Park, and bay shore parks such as the Point Pinole Regional Shoreline.

Snow presented the idea to the park district after hearing of a Rotary-sponsored barrier-free playground in Portland, Ore. "It's a community and nationwide need that can't be overlooked," he said.
The playground was funded by contributions from the park district, Oakland Rotary and its members.
The group will meet at Tilden Regional Park's Environmental Education Center at the north end of Central Park Drive in Berkeley, then walk a short distance uphill to the campfire circle.

 Regional Parks Foundation Goals
The merry-go-round was built in 1911 in Tonawanda, N.Y., by the Herschell-Spillman Co. Before arriving at Tilden in 1948, the carousel had seen service at amusement parks in San Bernardino, Ocean Beach and Los Angeles.
Funds for the project were provided from Proposition 12, the state park bond issue approved by voters in 2000.
Repair work yet to be completed includes restoration of the hardwood floor beneath the animals, repair of the two organs that provide the carousel music, and restoration of the antique animals themselves.

 American Discovery Trail: California
From Walnut Creek the ADT follows a series of trails which begin along the Contra Costa Canal, ascend to the Lafayette Ridge, descend from the ridge into Homestead Valley, skirt the shorelines of the Briones and San Pablo Reservoirs and ascend to Inspiration Point.
From Inspiration Point the ADT follows trails in the east bay hills through the Tilden Regional Park and descends down Strawberry Canyon to the University of California campus in Berkeley and then on through the city streets of Berkeley and Oakland to Jack London Square on the waterfront.
It is usually windy on the bridge, so tie everything tightly onto your pack as you cross to the north side of the bridge which is the end of this segment.
