What I like about the character as well is that Tim is the one that everyone relates to, and he actually ends up doing what people do in real life, which is chicken out.
Series 2 starts a few weeks after Series 1 ends, and Tim's trying to mold himself into a slightly different person and be a bit more of a company man. But he's still Tim, and he can't resist being Tim, you know.
I think it freaked a lot of people out when it was first shown over here, "Oh Christ, Tim is not Tim anymore." But, even by the end of the first episode he's back to playing a trick on Gareth with Dawn, so he can't resist really.

I totally agree it is not cowardice or unpatriotic to disagree with the mission - particularly one that might include agressive combat and result in the loss in soldier's lives.
Now that I've read Tim's earlier post, I have to say there is nothing that I disagree with on his position.
I know Karzai's reach through the countryside is limited (he is often mockingly referred to as "the mayor of Kabul" by regional warlords, but he does speak for Afghanis who want a measure fo peace in their lives.

I couldn't use it for the intended purpose as the fairing delivery was not shipped until almost a year after the R84 was delivered.
It only added insult to the situation by having a fairing frame that was not sized correctly for my R84 and had to be shipped back.
Within a year and a half, the R84 had less than 500 miles on it (300 of which were on a indoor trainer) There were failures in the boom, seat and 10T cog which all had to be sent back for warranty repair at two separate dates.
