Tim McIlrath (born 1980) is the lead singer for the American melodic hardcore band Rise Against.
Tim was born in 1980 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
McIlrath's father is a right wing ex-military intelligence officer as was his grandfather{AP220}, although Tim himself is known for his left-wing political views as demonstrated in Rise Against songs such as "State of the Union", "Blood-Red, White and Blue", and others.

AP had the distinct pleasure of talking with Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath earlier today about the recording of his band's new album, but quickly found out some other interesting tidbits: The Chicago-based political hardcore band have recorded both Lifetime and Sick Of It All covers for their respective tribute CDs.
There are currently no other bands announced for the project, although Canadian screamo act Silverstein informed AP last November that they recently recorded their cover of "Rodeo Clown" for a currently unnamed future project.
McIlrath also tipped AP off to a Sick Of It All tribute scheduled to come out via SOIA's new label, Abacus Recordings.

This release comes soon after the Chicago punk band Rise Against released their new album "Revolutions Per Minute” This is significant because the bands share the same vocalist in Tim Mcilrath.
Tim's vocals are one of the highlights of both bands and it remains to be seen which band will receive the most attention from him.
Tim's vocals do add a hardcore element but the thing I like about his voice is that he has a sort of scratchy, emotional voice reminiscent of famous Seattle alternative bands.
