Michels, a construction executive from Oconomowoc, referred to the Feingold claim that Michels would be a "rubber stamp" for big business and the pharmaceutical industry, when in fact Michels has been an advocate for Canadian drug importation, in defiance of the Bush administration.
Michels won Tuesday's GOP primary after making much of the fact that Feingold was the lone U.S. senator to vote against the war and the Patriot Act, which broadened police powers to battle terrorism after the 2001 attacks.

During an interview prior to his speech, Michels disputed claims that the Republican National Committee has given up on his candidacy because it decided against running $1.2 million in ads on his behalf in the state.
At the same time, Michels has between $50,000 and $100,000 in a mutual fund that invests heavily in China companies, according to a Sept. 28 report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Construction magnate and former Army Ranger TimMichels won the Republican U.S. Senate primary Tuesday, defeating car dealer Russ Darrow and two other candidates and setting up a November contest against Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold.
Michels said his positions on strengthening the economy, cutting taxes, easing government regulations and "getting tough with bad corporate operators" resonated with primary voters.
