To highlight the importance of the wavelet transform method in practice, this talk provides a review of the time-frequency and time-scale (wavelet) transform methods, and their use in medicine, including cardiology and sleep research.
Metin Akay, Associate Professor of Engineering, Psychology and Brain Sciences, and Computer Science at Dartmouth received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1981 and 1984, respectively and a Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University in 1990.
Dr. Akay's Neural Engineering and Informatics Lab is interested in investigating the dynamics of motor function in Parkinson and Post-Stroke Disease Subjects and the effect of developmental abnormalities and maturation on the dynamics of respiration.

Allen Taflove received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL in 1971, 1972, and 1975, respectively.
