Time code ambiguity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In telecommunication, time code ambiguity is the shortest interval between successive repetitions of the same time code value.
For example, in a time code in which year-of-century (the '72' in 10/04/72) is the most slowly changing field, the time code ambiguity would be 100 years; it is ambiguous whether this value refers to a date in 1872, 1972 or some other century.
The Year 2000 bug is an example of the pitfalls of time code ambiguity.

TIME CODE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-06)
Time code is a fixed, sequential numeric code that is encrypted onto the length of a video tape.
Time code reads on the counter too, but when you switch tapes, the counter reads the time code on the tape and changes the numbers according to the time code found on the tape.
Time code is the basis for the synchronous interlocking of any combination of video and audio machines.

 Time Code
Time Code claims to be the first movie shot simultaneously on four digital cameras, all in one take.
Events also move in real time, which means that approximately an hour and a half pass in the movie.
The intriguing thing about Time Code is that four stories play on the screen, which he divided into quarters.

Understanding time code and the methodology of time code use is really quite simple if you understand a few basics and make an effort to communicate with our brethren in transfer and post.
In location recording time code is typically employed as a time base or reference to be later used in syncing the audio with film and/or video.
Time code is striped on the analog or digital audio tape and in post the audio is joined with the picture.

Time Code Processor and Remote Control Panel - Miranda Technologies
The TCP-101i is a versatile time code processor which performs a variety of time code reading, translation, generation, insertion and display functions.
Output time code signals may be generated locally or re-generated from input time codes.
The TCP-101i includes a "Monitor" output allowing time code to be displayed over the incoming program input signal along with a variety of safe title, safe area and aspect ratio graticule overlays.

Time Codes   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-06)
Time Codes, generally in serial form, are used to convey time information from one point to another.
ESE Time Code™ was originally developed in the mid 70's as an inexpensive way to send time of day to remote digital slave displays.
When used for editing, the code is typically recorded on a spare audio or time code track on the tape.

Time code: The transmission of the numerical values for minute, hour, day, weekday, month and year are BCD-encoded through the pulse duration modulation of the second marks.
Early test results show that the time information received with the help of pseudo-random phase modulation is more resistant to interference and more accurate (standard deviation \approx 10\mu s during the day and \approx 25\mu s at night) than the conventional method using amplitude modulated second marks.

At the same time, not all VTRs were equipped with timecode boards, and not all of those that did performed a regeneration of the off-tape timecode (which provides a properly phased and shaped signal to the outside world).
Greater timing precision is sometimes cited as a reason for choosing 30 non-drop for audio work; in practice, however, the benefit is too small to be significant.

 SPLICEDwire | Mike Figgis/"Time Code" feature (2000)
"Time Code's" labyrinth chronology is split into quadrants on the screen -- like a security camera monitor -- and the director uses volume levels and other audio cues to draw the eye toward whichever frame he chose to emphasize at any given point while in post-production, which created a particular course to the narrative.
But while standard prints being released to theaters this week feature one predetermined version of the crisscrossing events in the film, Figgis' dream was to be able to interact with an audience by mixing the picture's audio tracks live in the theater, and that's just what he's here to try today.
This night's screening will be his second "performance" of the live mix "Time Code," after having done the same thing in Toronto one week before.
