Computer-generated imagery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CGI is used in films, television programs and commercials, and in printed media.
CGI is used for visual effects because the quality is often higher and effects are more controllable than other more physically based processes, such as constructing miniatures for effects shots or hiring extras for crowd scenes, and because it allows the creation of images that would not be feasible using any other technology.
The film was not a box-office success, however, and after creating one more film using a similar visual style (Final Flight of the Osiris, a short film which served as a prologue to The Matrix Reloaded), Square Pictures closed down.

Timeline of Influential Milestones and Turning Points in Film History
Herein is a detailed timeline of the key film milestones, important turning points, and significant historical dates or events (organized by decade) that have had a significant influence on the world body of cinema and shaped its development.
These films were low cost to produce; didn't require much originality, big-name (and salary) actors or extensive marketing (because of brand-name recognition); and they had ready-made legions of faithful horror-film devotees.
Horror films became one of the most lucrative genre franchises, due to the fact that they could be cheaply made, and were capable of attracting large audiences.

The dark and moving independent film was a heartbreaking, authentic, coming-of-age family drama about an abused 15 year old working-class Yorkshire boy who found meaning in his life by raising a baby kestrel (falcon).
Twenty-five percent of the film was financed by a tax shelter syndicate which received about 10 percent of the profits in return -- this avenue of film financing has since been closed by order of federal regulation.
Known for directing Rosemary's Baby (1968) (his debut Hollywood film) and the highly-acclaimed Chinatown (1974) which revitalized the film noir genre, and for being the widower of the brutally-murdered Manson victim Sharon Tate in 1969, Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful intercourse with the minor but fled to France in 1978 before his sentencing.

Isn’t it funny how really naff early CGI was often much scarier than billion-dollar King Kong etc? Of course I’m older now, but I’m sure these things had more bite when we weren’t used to seeing them in every other advert.
In fact, the stop-motion Sinbad films and the Harpies in Perseus (?) were the scariest things ever on the telly when I were a lad n that.

 6/11/04: Film Score Friday
The film, which is the penultimate movie in the Laemmle's recent series on the films of cinematographer James Wong Howe, will be playing at the Fallbrook in West Hills on June 12-13 at 11 a.m., and at the Monica in Santa Monica on June 19-20 at 11 a.m.
This 1980 film written and directed by Menahem Golan (co-founder of Cannon Films) is an indescribable futuristic religious sci-fi disco musical set in the far off year of 1994, about an innocent young couple caught in the snare of an evil music publishing empire/tyrannical dictatorship called BIM.
I enjoyed the film itself, but the lukewarm reaction and so-so box office suggests it wasn't really the score that was a problem but that was the only thing they could fix so late in the day.

Try to figure the internal (or is it eternal?) timeline of the film's narrative as scenes go from day to night back to day as characters magically teleport from one scene setting to another.
Also unfortunate is that both are pan and scanned, so people are constantly talking to the side of the television screen or, in some instances, the camera is needlessly focused on the person they are talking to.

He had already projected quite useful films onto a wall in his factory, but rather than producing a viewing system for the general public he came up with a machine in which reels of celluloid were not unrolled but stretched over a set of wheels that passed in front of a viewing window.
The film's motif was based on the lightning or quick sketch routine from vaudeville where a drawing is done in front of an audience.
In this film the animation was created by stop motion and effects animation of 3D objects - wine poured into a glass, bread cut, and a table set without a human present.
