The below is an abridged timeline of events established in the group of television shows and feature films set in the fictional Star Trek universe.
This timeline is based on the Star Trek Chronology model, which took as its basis the established date of 2364 for the first-season TNG episode "The Neutral Zone", and also assumed that the episodes of the original series of Star Trek were set 300 years after their initial airing, from 2266 to 2269.
The Earth-Romulan War is fought between the United Earth and its allies, and the Romulan Star Empire, at the end of which the Romulans are defeated at the Battle of Cheron.

The Star Trek Annotated Timeline, by Win Scott Eckert, also tries to be as inclusive as possible, though it is only available as a very large PDF file at this time.
The Timeline of the Highlander Universe compiled by I. Below are listed all the references to specific dates in the STAR TREK Universe that pertain to Hikaru Sulu and his family and the U.S.S. Excelsior and her crew including Janice Rand and Tuvok.
The timeline was written in the past tense as if the writer were living in the STAR TREK universe a few years after the current adventures.
Here's my rationale for maintaining that Captain Hikaru Sulu sponsored Chakotay to the Academy in 2350: In the STAR TREK: Voyager episode "Tattoo" which aired in 1995, in a flashback sequence Chakotay, aged 15, stated that he had met "Captain Sulu" and that he was going to sponsor him to the Academy.

 Animated STAR TREK - Timeline
The format used in this timeline is esentially similar to the one employed in Mike and Denise Okuda's STAR TREK Chronology.
In the movie STAR TREK: First Contact we learn that in 2113, the first united Earth government was established, and in "Broken Bow," the premiere episode of Enterprise, we learn that in 2119, the Warp 5 Complex is established to create technology that will allow humans to safely explore deep space.
The STAR TREK Chronology and in "The Pirates of Orion" (2270), Kirk commented that McCoy had been in medicine for 25 years.

This (James Dixon) Star Trek Chronology file is without a doubt (as far as I know, at least) the most exhaustively researched and information-packed timeline of the Star Trek Universe available (without insulting the intel- ligence of hardcore Trekkers by bombarding them with commonly-known Trek facts, that is).
Star Trek's second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before" had the "Enterprise" recover the recorder-marker of an Earth ship at the edge of the galaxy, the S.S. "Valiant." It was mentioned repeatedly that the "Valiant" had been lost 200 years ago.
Consider the possibility that a being in Star Trek's time may have a biological age (the subjective age of the being's body) and a chronological age (the being's objective age computed from birthdate and present date).

Of all of the existing timelines (not counting this one of course), the Stone/Finkas one is the best, but it references ONLY the screened evidence, leaving people who want a larger picture in the dark.
This timeline was not designed to be the timeline to end all timelines, so undoubtably there are timelines which are more comprehensive than mine.

Sources: Enterprise exploration timeline, Captain Archer has a picture of the U.S.S. Enterprise on the wall of his cabin, and there is picture shown to Ilia of this ship in Star Trek-The Motion Picture.
This is the point where the Star Trek timeline and the actual events of history begin to most clearly diverge.
Although some events have been shown to be slightly different in the Star Trek universe in years prior to 1968, it is with the episode "Assignment: Earth" featuring Gary Seven that we first see a clearly divergent history, that is not "fixed" at the end of the episode.
