This is a timeline of the Texas Revolution, spanning the time from the earliest independence movements of the area of Texas, over the declaration of independence from Spain, up to the secession of the Republic of Texas from Mexico.
The Texas revolution moved in two phases: the initial colonist revolt and expulsion of all federal garrisons from Texas, followed by the Mexican attempt to put down the rebellion and the eventual defeat and capture of Mexican president and general Antonio López de Santa Anna.
Sam Houston is appointed commander of Texas forces.

The Texas Revolution or Texas War of Independence was fought from October 2, 1835 to April 21, 1836 between Mexico and the Tejas portion of the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas.
Texas was annexed by the United States of America in 1845, and it was not until the Mexican-American War that the "Texan Question" was resolved.
The western border of Texas ended about 200 miles (320 km) west of San Antonio where the state of Chihuahua began, and a 200-mile wide strip of land extended between Tamaulipas and Chihuahua, 100 miles (160 km) southwest across the Rio Grande to connect Texas to Coahuila.

He commanded the Texas forces at the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution from the Republic of Mexico.
Travis was born in 1809 in Saluda County, South Carolina, the eldest of eleven children of Mark and Jemima Travis; records differ as to whether his date of birth was the first or ninth of August, but the Travis family Bible indicates that he was born on the 9th.
Upon his arrival in Texas in May 1831, which was a part of Northern Mexico at the time, Travis purchased land from Stephen F. Austin and started a law practice in Anahuac.
