Though it's a frosty day in Timmins, with the thermometer reading just below freezing, Twain warmed up hearts with a surprise visit to her old high school, Timmins High and Vocational School.
Twain's last visit to Timmins was in 2000, when she dropped in on her high school reunion.
Hometown girl Shania Twain has returned to finally inaugurate the museum built in her honour.

Mayor Power is a graduate of the University of Windsor (B.A. Class of '60), the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto and was for many years Head of Guidance at Timmins High and Vocational School.
Highlights of his career as Mayor include the Timmins downtown revitalization program, the expansion of infrastructure throughout the city and the founding of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.
Mayor Power was elected the sixteenth Mayor of Timmins in November 1980 after having served twelve years as City Councillor.

Follow the trail up from the river to go behind Timmins High and vocational School as well as Ecole Secondaire Theriault emerging on Vimy Ave.
On the east side of the river, the trail follows Airport Road for about two long blocks and turns back to the river just past River Park Road.
This now turns away from the road and follows the river for a pleasant walk of about 800 metres.
