But it means that many citizens who live in Timmins or in other communities, like Moosonee or Moose Factory or wherever, are having to get placed very far away from home, somewhere within the district, because there are no beds available in their municipalities.
For example, if you're a citizen living in the town of Moosonee, Kashechewan, Fort Albany, Timmins or wherever it might be, it doesn't necessarily mean that because a district has enough beds, we're going to be able to get a bed for you in your home community.
So on behalf of Fern, Angie and all of the family, I call on this government to make sure that we adequately fund the services in the community care access centres so people like Fern can live with some dignity and don't have to be institutionalized before their time.

Labour Critic Peter Kormos and Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, who championed the pension protection issue, said their negotiations helped to achieve all-party consent for scrapping the controversial sections of Bill 198 in the legislature late this afternoon.
The proposed legislation, buried deep in the government's budget bill and strongly opposed by New Democrats, pensioners, workers and their unions, would have given employers a near unfettered right to take pension contribution holidays and grab surplus funds from wound-up or partially wound-up pension plans.
The NDP, labour and seniors' groups can rightfully claim credit for having contentious provisions removed from an Ontario government bill that would have allowed employers to grab workers' pension surpluses.
