Once Timur dies his army is pretty much doomed, without a commander like him the Ming army will be able to grind the Timurid army into dust.
Any sultanate that Timur founds in China is doomed the moment he leaves, or dies.

In 1405 Timur died in Utrar during a campaign to conquer China.
Following attempts by several grandsons to seize power, his son Shahrukh (1405/09-1447) won through, maintaining sovereignty in most of Timur's territories from Herat, although Anatolia and Iran/Iraq were lost to the Qara Qoyunlu.
