Tinglish   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Tinglish is the imperfect form of English produced by native Thai speakers due to language interference from the first language.
Tinglish pronunciation shifts the stress to the last syllable of the word and omits consonant clusters.
Final consonants are often omitted or converted according to the rules of Thai pronunciation: l and r become n, while s becomes t.

Tinglish is kinda fun, it takes a stuffy old language with incomprehensible verb conjugations and more spelling exceptions than rules, and turns it into a cool Hollywood-speak that would have the colonialists cringing and choking over their gin and tonics hey!
But it is the menus that are my favourite source of new Tinglish words.
Of course, there are some words and phrases we would have no use for in the new Tinglish language, such as driver’s licence, town planning, maintenance, wing mirror, customer services, deadline, hi fidelity, silence and ethics.

Behind the Curtain: Tinglish Without Toil - Stuart Jay Raj 18th May 2005
Some to unlearn some of the bad habits that they’ve formed, some to get a more solid understanding on the rules, psychology and culture behind the language, some to learn how to communicate better with their employees and some to learn how to teach the Farang students Thai more effectively.
Through learning to speak fluent Tinglish we start to inherit some of the sound filters and habits that native speakers of Thai possess, build subconscious grammatical rules that come from Thai and see meanings and understand humour from a corner that we may not have ever sat on before.
The thing that might surprise you when speaking Tinglish well, is that many Thais won’t even realise you’re speaking it no matter how ridiculous you sound.

Tinglish does, however, need to be distinguished from speaking slowly and clearly in English (Tinglish is not the same) or in a combination of Thai and English.
When Farangs speak Tinglish, they are essentially mimicking Thais who speak poor English.
Tinglish is no more likely to make a Farang understood by a Thai than a Thai speaking in pidgin Thai to a Farang who has a limited grasp of Thai.

We can add in that he was born in Tinglish Bicknor, Gloucestershire, as reported in the 1871 census, and that his father was Thomas Tarling (a collier in 1871) as reported on the marriage certificate, and add in the names of his siblings from the book, to get more detail.
