Ganeko Yoriko is described as being in the front-line of the Okinawa renaissance, or the third generation of Okinawan artists (“Kui nu Hana”, Vap 1995).
It seems quite old-school when compared to her Vap recording (“Kui nu Hana”, 1995) which was a result of her partnership with THE BOOM’s Miyazawa Kazufumi (who joins her on the song “Nishinjo Bushi”).
The recording from Wave Distribution (“Ganeko Yoriko Meets LSD”, 1993) on the other hand, is quite the opposite from “Kui nu Hana” and the Marufuku Records recording, as it’s an experimentation between Okinawan minyo and ska.
