TINSUKIA, Feb 11: Tension prevailed in the entire Kakopathar-Dirak-Makum-Doomdooma region of Tinsukia district after yesterday’s mob furore and subsequent firing by security personnel in which nine persons, including two CRPF jawans, were killed even as curfew continued for the second consecutive day today.
While the situation in Kakopathar was said to be under control, the scene shifted to the Chabua township where over 5,000 villagers took out a protest march demanding withdrawal of the Army and a halt to the ‘atrocities’ committed on the innocent people.
