Tintin was the Belgian magazine for realistic comics during the second half of the 20th Century.
The title character, 'Tintin', was created back in 1929 for Le Petit Vingtième by the Belgian artist Georges Rémi, also known as Hergé; and was already extremely popular.
He was relieved to leave Tintin after fulfilling his contractual obligation, but 'Modeste et Pompon' was continued for several years by artists like Dino Attanasio, Mittéï, Griffo and Walli and Bom.

Past work was focussed on isolating distinct features of a character like its hair and images were scanned using the "dark hair on light background" concept etc. In addition to this, [Syeda:1999] gives a method of scanning the entire image as well.
What this means is, since all the main characters have the same colour (facial), this method of segmentation can be used as a primary step to detect almost any major Tintin character (with the exception of Snowy and the one odd cats in Marlinspike Hall!!).
Character recognition is all about verifying as many features as possible to get closer to recognising the required character.

He never really helped or saved Tintin as Snowy always has(only except in The Red Sea Sharks when he acted like a real captain to steer the ship away from the torpedos), but his passionate expressions(taken from Ahmed Fasih's site) and penchant for whiskey turned to be almost as important as the stories themselves.
His real character comes out during his encounter with millionaire misanthrope Carreidas when they argue as to who is the devil incarnate, one of the funniest scene in all the albums.
