The eastern boundary of Tryon County was approximately five miles west of the present city of Schenectady, and the county included the western part of the Adirondack Mountains and the area west of the West Branch of the Delaware River.
Tioga County was reduced in size in 1798 by the splitting off of Chemung County (which also included part of the present Schuyler County and by the combination of a portion with a portion of Herkimer County to create Chenango County.
Tioga County is located in southwest New York State, west of Binghamton and directly north of the border with Pennsylvania.

On April 8, 1808, four and a half townships were taken from the County of Onondaga and erected as the new County of Cortland.
The boundaries of the new County differed little from those of the present which are: On the north by Onondaga County; on the east by Madison and Chenango; on the south by Broome and Tioga; and on the west by Tompkins and Cayuga.
The surface of the County is made up of hilly ranges, broad, level plains, and an elevated plateau in the northern section with a ridge on the extreme north side which is the dividing point of the waters which flow to Lake Ontario and those which go to join the Susquehanna River.

Horton, 34, from the Town of Waverly, Tioga County, New York, was sentenced in United States District Court, Binghamton, to a term of imprisonment of 53 months in connection with his conviction for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Suddaby emphasized once again the commitment of his office to prosecute to the fullest extent appropriate cases where individuals are involved in manufacturing methamphetamine.
The case was investigated by the Village of Waverly Police Department, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
