On May 9, 1837, the town of Ripley was incorporated by an act of the Legislature as the county seat for Tippah County.
Tippah County is a diverse place, and at one time, incorporated an even larger area than it does now.
Although Tippah County was never particularly rich, it was strategically located, being only 30 miles from the crossroads at Corinth and about 50 miles from Shiloh.

The Tippah Amateur Radio Association (TARA) is a group of Amateur Radio operators in the North Mississippi area with a special interest in Amateur Radio as an emergency resource, and as a forum for the exchange of ideas.
The EOC is located on the grounds of the Tippah County Hospital, directly across the "side" street from Stone's Jewelry, all at the intersection of Highway 15 North and North Main Street.

Butler, of Tipplersville, had pleaded guilty in federal court in Oxford in August to one count of conspiracy to distribute excess of 50 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine and one count of actual distribution of in excess of 50 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine.
Butler was sentenced this past week to 350 months in prison, according to federal court records.
More than a dozen suspects, including several from the Crossroads area, pleaded guilty to various charges in connection to the operation which distributed methamphetamine in Alcorn, Tippah, Prentiss, Union, Lee, Chickasaw and Pontotoc counties.

I have not been able to find the cemetery as of yet and I have spent the good part of a few weekends looking and asking people in stores and gas stations for directions-no one seems to know where it is located.

Each died in Hattisburg, Miss., Lester Rich on December 17, 1963 and Hester Rich on March 4, 1974 and both are buried in the cemetery at Providence Cemetery in Tippah County.
Most of their married life was spent in Tippah County although they lived in southern Mississipi (Kokomo area) when several of the children were born.
