Tire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The "steering feel" of such tires is different from that of pneumatic tires, as their solidity does not allow the amount of torsion that exists in the carcass of a pneumatic tire under steering forces, and the resultant sensory feedback through the steering apparatus.
The tire was heated in a forge, placed on the wheel and quenched, causing the metal to contract and imparting stiffness to the wheel.
Tire rotation moves tires between the different wheels of the vehicle as front and back axles carry different loads and thus the tires wear differently.

Tire rotation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tire rotation or rotating tires is the practice of moving automobile tires from one wheel to another to ensure even tire wear.
This means, all else being equal, the front tires wear out at almost twice the rate of the rear wheels, especially when factoring the additional stress that braking puts on the front tires.
The rotation pattern is typically moving the back wheels to the front and the front to the back but crossing them when moving to the back.

Radial tires have ply cords that extend to the beads and are laid at 90 degrees to the centerline of the tread, the carcass being stabilized by a circumferential belt.
The relative performance of tires depends upon the actual conditions of their use and may be significantly different from the norm due to differences in road characteristics and climate.
Tires are manufactured to close tolerances, however as they wear their mass can become unevenly distributed, negatively effecting the original balance.

It is not recommended to downgrade your tires to a lower speed rating than of the OEM tires that came with your vehicle at the time of purchase.
Any patch that is applied to a tire must be applied to both the outer part of the tire (tread) and the inner part of the tire.
Tires are typically replaced when their natural lifespan has come to an end.

Tire Safety, Brochure (DOT HS 809 361 October 2001)
Tire inflation pressure is the level of air in the tire that provides it with load-carrying capacity and affects the overall performance of the vehicle.
While your tire may still be slightly underinflated due to the extra pounds of pressure in the warm tire, it is safer to drive with air pressure that is slightly lower than the vehicle manufacturer's recommended cold inflation pressure than to drive with a significantly underinflated tire.
Rotating tires from front to back and from side to side can reduce irregular wear (for vehicles that have tires that are all the same size).

Tires are much more than just those round, fl, rubber things keeping your wheel rims from hitting the pavement.
Checking tire pressure when a tire is ‘cold’ ensures that you will get an accurate reading because it’s natural for tire pressure to increase as you drive.
Tires that are worn close to the tread-wear indicators have significantly reduced traction and should not be used on snow-covered roads.

Tire rotation can often be done with oil change intervals while the vehicle is off the ground anyway.
Tire rotation helps even out tire wear by allowing each tire to serve in as many of the vehicle's wheel positions as possible.
It is an advantage when all four tires wear together because as wear reduces a tire's tread depth, it allows tires to respond to the driver's input more quickly, maintains the handling, and it helps increase a tire's cornering traction.

 Tire Rotation
The reason we rotate tires is to even out the wear and properly done, all the tires will be worn out at the same time.
The biggest portion of the discussion is whether or not it is OK to change the direction of the rotation of the tire.
A balanced tire is one where mass of the tire—when mounted on its wheel and the car's axle—is uniformly distributed around the axle (its center of rotation).

Rotation means you are changing where the individual tires are mounted on the vehicle.
Not only that, but the right front tire might tend to wear out more quickly than the left front because the nature of American traffic means that left-hand turns (which load the right-front tire) tend to be taken at higher speeds, and under higher loads, than right-hand turns (which load the left-front tire).
A typical schedule may call for rotation every 5,000 miles with a pattern that's sometimes called "cross-rotation." For example, the front tires will be moved to the opposite sides of the rear, right-front to left-rear and left-front to right-rear, and the rears moved straight forward.

Description: Tire rotation refers to the regular practice of switching the position of each tire on the car.
Purpose: Tire rotation helps to equalize tread wear and is critical to gain the maximum life from your tire investment.
Tire rotation time also offers a good opportunity to have the tires and wheels balanced.

 Tire rotation
On front wheel drive cars, it is especially important to rotate your tires periodically because the front tires wear faster than the rear.
If you don't rotate the tires, you'll wind up replacing them two at the time, which means you'll always have uneven tread thickness.
Rotating this tire to the other side of the car should even out this type of wear and quiet down the humming.

Tire wear rarely takes place uniformly on tires, because each tire is mounted at a different position on a vehicle.
Rotating tires at frequent intervals (at 6,000 miles or less) tends to equalize tire wear and minimize the progress of irregular wear.
The important factor in a tire rotation pattern is that all tires eventually are placed at all applicable wheel positions.

 NASIOC - Forester tire rotation
Because the front and rear tires of all-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles perform different duties while accelerating, braking and cornering, tire rotation is important to even out, and maintain equivalent treadwear of all of the vehicle's tires to minimize potential driveline stresses.
In the event that a single tire is damaged and has to be removed from service, this will allow the tread depth equivalent spare tire to be used with the remaining three tires.
If the spare is not integrated into the vehicle's tire rotation pattern, it will not match the tread depth of the four worn tires on the ground when called into service.

The only time tire rotation is appropriate on a bicycle is when you are replacing the rear tire.
The reason for this is that the front tire is much more critical for safety than the rear, so you should have the more reliable tire on the front.

Most vehicles will exhibit some form of tire wear over a period of time based on numerous factors including: tire pressures, front or four wheel alignment, vehicle weight, vehicle handling characteristics, driving style and habits, tire brand and wear rating, tire location on the vehicle.
Tire balance is recommended every other rotation to ensure a smooth ride.
As tires normally wear they may become out of balance causing a vibration that is felt in the vehicle as well as accelerated tire wear.
