The reconciliation of Fr Tissa Balasuriya, O.M.I. with the Catholic Church took place on 15 January 1998 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in the presence of H.E. Since all the conditions indicated by the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith for the reconciliation are now implemented, and with the authorization of the said Congregation, I hereby declare the remission of the excommunication which Fr Tissa Balasuriya incurred accorded to the Notification of the same Congregation issued in Rome on 2 January l997.

At the station, SI Silva attempted to force a confession from Tissa Kumara of possessing a bomb and being involved in theft.
Tissa Kumara was kept at the police station for five days after this, without being given any medical treatment.

The Department of Arts and Culture is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with the SA Police Service, the Telephone Interpreting Service for South Africa (TISSA) will provide interpreting services at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD).
The TISSA service will be available on a 24 hour, seven days a week basis at designated 20 police stations and five other sites around the WSSD venue for the duration of the Summit (17 August - 6 September).
TISSA is a project of the Department of Arts and Culture, is jointly funded by the Department and the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB), and is managed by the Unit for Language Facilitation and Empowerment at the University of the Free State.

TISSA, Aug 6: The Tissa people have demanded immediate screening of the Muslim Gujjar nomads living in the vicinity of the Chamba border, uphill of the last police post of Mansa in Tissa area.
``The tragedy (massacre of 35 people in the Tissa area) could have been avoided, had the Gujjars been kept under strict surveillance.
The nomads from Jammu and Kashmir pitch their homes between the last police post and the border during summer months and their activities go unnoticed by the police since it is deployed about 15 kms away from the border in Chamba,'' said some members of Bairagarh, Seikothi and Teesa panchayats.
