 Spotlighting Solo Avengers
Note: This story is the first chapter of "Acts of Vengeance", a crossover storyline rooted in the Avengers-related titles and spanning many of Marvel's comics for several months.
It was an ongoing series dedicated to featuring individual Avengers characters who didn't have their own solo comics; it was also an old-fashioned "split book" for most of its existence, splitting the page count between a regular lead feature and a variety of supporting features.
First off, most of the series was pretty unremarkable and much of it plain bad; the Hawkeye feature in particular was a painfully wasted opportunity to showcase one of Marvel's greatest characters, and the other features were seldom all that solid either.

Captain Marvel is certainly one of the more interestingly offbeat mainstream comics just by virtue of the hero being insane.
Wishing to prevent a future where the alien Shi’ar, Kree and Skrull empires join forces to eliminate humanity, Captain Marvel travels to Titan in an effort to discover why his formerly dead mother is now alive.
After last issues’ surprise appearance of Captain Marvel’s presumably dead mother — which was certainly a surprise for a hero possessing cosmic awareness or if you prefer near-omniscience — the pieces seem to be fitting together as to what has been ailing both Captain Marvel and the universe.

Along with advent of Marvel comics in the 1960s, Schwartz's efforts at DC helped superhero comics maintain their presence on the newsstands until the rise of the direct market in the1970s.
