A group of students of Titumir College yesterday staged a demonstration in the city's Gulshan area protesting death of a student of the institution in road mishap.
It may recalled that Abdus Samad Azad a student of Titumir college was seriously injured in the road mishap near Zia Colony on Airport road on Sunday and he succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Sunday night.
After receiving information about the death of Azad, the students of Titumir College became agitated and took to the city streets to protest death of Azad in road accident.

Our Jhenidah correspondent reported that acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-6 arrested Sabur and Titumir at a house at Naran Kandi village under Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district on Thursday.

Sources said a certain quarter in the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party is out to replace Hamida with Shaheda Obaid, wife of an influential BNP leader, K.M. Obaidur Rahman.

Police and witnesses said the shooting touched off violent protests in several parts of the city in which about a dozen others were injured and around 30 vehicles damaged.
The slain leader of the ruling party's student front was identified as Akhlaqur Rahman Ankhi, ex-VP of Government Titumir College and BCL City North unit general secretary.
Enraged by the killing, supporters of Ankhi went on the rampage damaging vehicles in the capital's northern part, including Gul-shan, Banani Bazar and Mohakhali areas, causing severe traffic jams and panic.
