Tixtla (formally, Tixtla de Guerrero) is a town in the Mexican state of Guerrero.
Tixtla was the birthplace of both Vicente Guerrero (1783) and Ignacio Altamirano (1893).
It served as the first capital of Guerrero, from 1851 to 1870, and the state constitution was promulgated there on 14 June 1851.

He hoped to come back to power, but conservative General Anastasio Bustamante captured him through bribery and had him killed.
The state of Guerrero is named after him, and his birthplace was renamed Tixtla de Guerrero in his honor.

Known as one of the World's Great Men of Color Vincente Guerrero was considered the George Washington and Abraham Lincoln combined of Mexico.
Guerrero was born in Tixtla, a small village in the sierra that furnishes a backdrop to Acapulco, on August 10, 1782.
Vincente Guerrero was the second president of Mexico and the first to come from as clases populares (the “popular” classes), which in Spanish is a euphemism for an individual of peasant or working class background.
