Tjeker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tjekker were one of the Sea Peoples who raided Egypt and the Levant during the 13th and 12th centuries BCE.
The Tjekker were of uncertain origin, but they may have been connected to the Teucri, a tribe described by Homer and other ancient sources as inhabiting northwest Anatolia around Troy.
They are one of the few of the Sea Peoples for whom a ruler's name is recorded - in the papyrus account of Wenamun, an Egyptian priest, the ruler of Dor is given as "Beder".

Dor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dor - "dwelling", the Dora of the Greeks and Romans, an ancient royal city of the Canaanites, (Joshua 12:23) whose ruler was an ally of Jabin king of Hazor against Joshua, (Joshua 11:1,2).
In the 1100's the town appears to have been taken by the Tjekker, and was ruled by them at least as late as the early 1000's BCE.
It appears to have been within the territory of the tribe of Asher, though allotted to Manasseh, (Joshua 17:11; Judges 1:27).

The Tjekker are also mentioned in the Wen-Amon story of the 11th century BCE, set in the reign of Ramesses XI (Lichtheim 1976: 224-230).
The Tjekker appear in classical texts as the Teukroi, a people of Western Cilicia whose domain, according to legend, was established by Ajax, son of Teucer (Wainright 1963: 148).
In artistic depictions, the Tjekker are nearly indistinguishable from the Philistines (Wainwright 1963: 146).

There is no evidence that Manasseh was ever connected to the sea so it is not surprising that the Asherites might have controlled the commerce of that city perhaps together with the families of Dan.
It is interesting to view the map of Solomon's districts to see how the original tribal divisions had been modified from the initial allocation of the land to the time in which we are dealing.

The Teresh and the Shekelesh continue in their activities and are joined by the Tjekker, Pelest and the Denyen.
We do know however from Madinat Habu that "foreign countries made a conspiracy in their islands" and this is the movement which produced the Peleset, Danuna, and Tjekker.

Much more important, however, are the Peleset and the Tjekker, since the incursion of these tribes into Palestine was, to some extent, successful and permanent.
A narrative dating from about a century later describes the Tjekker as sea-pirates occupying the port of Dor, but nothing more is known of them or of the name they bore.
The Peleset, on the other hand, are the Philistines who were later alternately conquerors of and conquered Israelites, who gave their name to Palestine and whom our modern parlance still remembers in an unfairly deprecatory way.

Well since Ramses III said the Peleset would hide in their cities, the battle was fought on neutral ground.
