It is also hinted at that Odin and his tribe originally came from Troy, a walled city which by then had been a forgotten ruin for nearly two and a half millennium, when Snorre transcribed this saga from various verbal sources.
He mainly got his material for the Ynglinge Saga from the bard Tjodolf of Kvine, who wrote it down in verses for his king, Harald the Fair-haired, son of Halvdan the Black, in ca.
Tjodolfs Ynglingatal was later also polished and expanded upon by another one of this bloodline, the young priest Are Frode Torgilsson (1067-1148).

The original version is attributed to Tjodolf of Hvin who was the skald of a Norwegian petty king named Ragnvald the Mountain-High and who was a cousin of Harald Fairhair.
Moreover, some of Krag's objections are not based on Ynglingatal but on the version given by Snorri in the Ynglinga saga, and consequently Krag criticizes the wrong version.
Sundquist's conclusion is that Tjodolf of Hvin based his work on an active Swedish tradition in the 9th century.
