Tlalpan is the largest of the 16 delegaciones (boroughs) into which Mexico's Federal District (Mexico City) is divided.
Tlalpan is home of Ajusco, a volcanic mountain peak and National Park, one of the highest mountains in Mexico City.
In Tlalpan the main indigenous language was Nahuatl, but it is not spoken nowadays because of the cultural development of Mexico City.

 Fernando Reyes, Paintings in Andres Blaisten Museum
According to a monograph on the achievements of the Open Air Schools of Painting published by the Misnistry of Education in 1926, Fernando Reyes was 16 year old and had graduated in June 1925, which means he must have been born in 1909.
He was from Tlalpan, at that time a village close to Mexico City, the son of a humble family of artisans, Fernando Reyes was one of the many children and young adults who benefited from the art education instituted by post-revolutionary governments.
Under the direction of his teacher, the painter and engraver Francisco Díaz de León, who was director of the Tlalpan school fro 1925 to 1932, Fernando Reyes had a short but vigorous career as a new young painter that led him to exhibit his work abroad.

He was a pupil of the Open Air School of Painting -the teaching project promoted by the painter Alfredo Ramos Martínez -inspired by "Plein air" landscape painting, which recovered the expressiveness of color and gave new value to childlike spontaneity in plastic treatment.
Kitagawa assimilated and adopted the pictorial methods of the schools of Tlalpan and Taxco, the last of which he founded and directed until he returned to his homeland in 1936.
In Japan, he introduced the Mexican style of depicting landscape and people, as the same time enriching it with local traditions such as the Ukiyoe.

Here in Tlalpan, we have just finished with 10 days of work projects with a youth group from Atlanta.
We went to a children's cancer center in the centro(center) de Tlalpan to encourage sick children and their families.
We also had good visits with Mario about new church plantings, the planting of seeds of the Gospel in Veracruz and Mexico City, and times for informal conversation on the training of new Mexican church planters.  While we were there, we showed to Jesus film to friends who the Molina family had invited.

Major concentrations of habitation in 1987 were Iztapalapa with 16.36% of the total, followed by Gustavo A. Madero (11.93%), Alvaro Obregn (9.63%) and Tlalpan (9.87%).
The Federal District is poor in green areas (parks etc.), with most of them located in the south part of the city.

LOS ANGELES - Heading north on Hoover Street just south of the Coliseum an hour or so before the "Superclasico" kicks off, it's easy to be transported to Calzada de Tlalpan, the road that leads to Mexico City's majestic Estadio Azteca.
