In the past six years Toad has seen both the high and low points of the road, from such enjoyable excursions as the Toad/Hootie jaunt earlier this year, to the emotional anguish of having their tour bus robbed not once, but twice in the city of St. Louis.
They are not the kind of band who stays holed up in their dressing room or tour bus, and that could partly explain the success they've enjoyed as a touring act in the nineties.
Actually, the "REM-type-sound" label dogged Toad from the beginning, yet the band has never shied away from admitting that the quartet from Athens, GA was a huge influence in their seminal days.
