  Tobamovirus - MicrobeWiki
The Tobamovirus genome is either monomeric or polymeric, non-segmented, and contains a single molecule of linear, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA.
There is no known insect vector, but it is known that tobamoviruses are transmitted through the sap of infected plants by plant to plant contact, handling by workers, on glasshouse structures and utensils, and by plant propagation.

They may be transmitted by inoculation with sap, or by contact with infected plants or contaminated soil, and are sometimes carried on seed, but no efficient and specific vectors are known.
Tobamovirus particles are found in the cytoplasm and sometimes in the chloroplasts of cells of all tissues (except perhaps embryos) where they may form elongated (paracrystalline) or plate-shaped (crystalline) inclusions; together with various cell constituents, they may form amorphous inclusions.
Tobamovirus particles are found mainly in the cytoplasm, but also in cell organelles.

ARS | Publication request: Biological and Molecular Characterization of a Novel Tobamovirus with a Unique Host Range
The data suggest that the Florida hibiscus virus is a novel tobamovirus.
We isolated a virus from Florida landscape plantings of hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), which appears to be a tobamovirus based upon its virion morphology, genome organization and coat protein sequence.
This unique host range, coupled with the sequence of the coat protein open reading frame and comparison of the deduced amino acid sequence with recognized tobamovirus coat proteins, indicate that this virus is a novel tobamovirus.

Technical Abstract: A new tobamovirus species, Hibiscus latent Fort Pierce virus (HLFPV) was recently isolated from the malvaceous plant hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) in the Florida landscape.
The experimental host range of HLFPV is mostly limited to the Malvaceae, which includes economically important ornamental crops like hibiscus, in addition to fiber and food crops such as cotton, kenaf and okra.
Another new tobamovirus species, Hibiscus latent Singapore virus (HLSV), was recently reported infecting hibiscus in Singapore.

In the tom1 thh1 double mutant, the tobamovirus CP accumulated to a level that was detectable, but lower than that in the tom1 single mutant.
