During the late Spring of l954 I accompanied Major Zink, Project Officer for the construction and upgrading of 5 radar sites on Hokkaido and 3 radar sites on Northern Honshu for a preliminary look see at the construction of Site 45 at Tobetsu, Hokkaido.
However, there were significant problems for the building contracting company from Tokyo (Nishimatsu Kensetsu) because it was located at the top of a rather high mountain and the snow depth in winter always presented challenges while under construction and, when completed, for the AF to achieve the mission.
At Tobetsu, this contractor elected to set up a single batch mixing operation at the bottom of the hill and transport the wet concrete to wherever a large pour was scheduled.

The collagen-phagocytosing activity of osteoblasts at the alveolar bone-ligament interface of rat mandibular first molars was investigated both histologically and histochemically.
Our findings suggest that osteoblasts at the alveolar bone-periodontal ligament interface have a collagen-phagocytosing ability and play an important role in the physiological remodeling and metabolic breakdown of collagen fibrils of periodontal ligament without ostoclastic bone remodeling.

OS-3, a monoclonal antibody raised against macrophagic cells derived from cultured rat glomeruli, reacts with the plasma membrane of various bicarbonate-secreting cells such as epithelial cells of the pancreatic excretory duct and type B intercalated cells of the kidney, suggesting that the antigenic molecule of OS-3 is involved in bicarbonate production and/or secretion.
