Michael Dannenhauer, chief of staff to former president George Bush, is said to have told Toby Rogers, a journalist with the Houston Public News, a newspaper in Texas (where Bush Jr is governor), that the politician was "out of control" from the time he attended Yale University.
Dannenhauer purportedly also told Rogers of an admission by the former president that his son experienced "lost weekends in Mexico".
Rogers, now a freelance contributor to various publications including The Village Voice, the respected liberal paper in New York, claims a photograph apparently showing the two men together was taken on April 21, 1998.

A public statement by a person with power is assumed to be true, while a statement made by a journalist has a much higher standard of proof to meet before it is accepted.

Krishan Padhiar led the cadets away with Toby Rogers and Nick Wones in hot pursuit, Rogers nipped past Wones on lap 2 and opened up a gap on the chasing pack although a mistake let Padhiar get away and the pack to close right up again.
Rogers was finding the going tough as firstly Jack Delaney then Wones and Craig Boyd slipped past.
Padhiar had an fairly uneventful race at the front as he took the chequered flag for a fine victory with Boyd coming through for 2nd ahead of Wones 3rd, Delaney 4th, Rogers 5th and Joe Boullen 6th.

Craig Boyd led the karts away from the lights but came under some severe pressure from Toby Rogers, he managed however to keep his nose in front and towards the end of the race pulled away for the victory.
It looked like Rogers had 2nd in the bag until a mistake on lap 12 saw him drop down to 5th, Thomas Fitzpatrick took full advantage of this to take 2nd, Nick Wones 3rd with Rogers clawing his way back up to 4th.
