The village is situated on the northern slopes of Mount Taburno, between the torrents Jenga and Serretella.
The centre has medioeval origins and the first well-grounded news dates back to the second half of the 10th c, when it was mentioned as a “castrum” and was a Longobard gastaldato.
In 1811 the centre was annexed to the “Stato di Vitulano”; since 1861 it has been a municipality of the area of Sannio beneventano, but only starting from 1864 the specification of Caudio was clearly expressed in its name.
