Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, is a multi-faceted artist and businessman with a broad range of experience in entertainment, sports and publishing.
Todd took a six-month hiatus from Marvel in August 1991 when his first daughter was born, and a few months later, the family relocated to Portland, Oregon.
McFarlane is the proud recipient of two major awards: an Emmy and a Gold DiVi award for the HBO series and the Spawn motion picture DVD, respectively.

Furthermore, McFarlane had referred to Gaiman as "co-creator" of these characters and paid him royalties, as he'd be entitled to as co-owner.
McFarlane also had a backup argument for why Gaiman couldn't be co-owner of the two disputed characters: they weren't copyrightable.

It was like he took so much of his own blood and had it mixed in with the paints that are used for his toy line and the same for the ink in the comix.
Todd channels Satan daily and Satan made him pay with his soul and to pay him back, Todd must use his own blood in every form of labor he has his name on.
