Taishan (台山; local: Toisan ; pinyin : Táishān) is a coastal city in Guangdong Province, China.
The city is located southwest of Jiangmen, 140 kilometers west of Hong Kong, in the Pearl River delta, and it is home to 1 million people.

 Chinese Emigration, the Sunning Railway and the Development of Toisan
Based in Toisan (Taishan) county, the area from which most Chinese in America emigrated, the railway was built in three stages from 1906 to 1920.
The Japanese army occupied Toisan several times, and except for the 23,782 rails that were shipped to Guangxi in 1942 to build the Qianguei Railway, the Sunning Railway assets, which were worth over three million yuan, were all carried off by the Japanese.
Toisan therefore depended on other counties, provinces, and countries for staples, foodstuffs, textiles, sundries, and construction materials.

Following his retirement he became intensely interested in his family genealogy and was eventually able to trace his lineage back some 5000 years.
We all miss him greatly, in part because with miss the warmth of his company, but probably more so in the long run because we appreciate the legacy of family that he built around himself and which I know he wants us all to continue.

I do not know about Leung Tien Chu of Toisan, but he might be one of the masters from the lineage of Hoong Hei Khoon, or one of his classmates like Foong Sai Yoke and Wu Wai Thien.
In the early twentieth century kungfu masters from Toisan (a district capital in south China) and other parts of Guangdong spread Hoong Khuen to South-East Asia and North America.
