The town at the present location of Tok, Alaska began in 1942 as an Alaska Road Commission camp used for construction and maintenance of the Alaska Highway.
In the 1940s and 1950s, another highway, the Tok Cut-Off was constructed connecting Tok with the Richardson Highway at Glennallen.
Tok is a census-designated place located in Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska.

SG-1 encounter a Tok'ra splinter cell who are breeding a small army of monumentally damaged harcesis storm troopers.
They wouldn't be able to do the cool voice but they still could have done other jobs for the Tok'ra such as research and development etc and furthered the tokra cause.
The harssesis would be too valuable if the goa'uld caught them...they'd have all the knowledge of the tok'ra and probably wouldn't have the heart to blow their brains out before they were captured

The pup, Tok, was named after the Tok River, which according to Athabascan Indian legend, was a place of gathering of tribes for peace.
A result of the military constrution of the Alaska Highway during the war effort of 1942, Tok--the intersection of the Tok Cutoff and the Alaska (Alcan) Highway--was named by Captain Andrew McMeekin, commanding officer of the 97th Engineers.
The word "Tok," derived from an Athabascan word, probably meant "peace crossing." Within months of McMeekin officially naming the junction, a community began to spring up, beginning first as a road construction camp for the Alcan and Tok Cutoff Highways.
