		The Scorpions were no exception, and in fact, their Tokyo Tapes were captured only days after Cheap Trick's At Budokan in April 1978.
		Though hardly as inspired or successful, the Tokyo Tapes set still serves as an ideal greatest-hits collection of the Scorpions' first decade.

		None of the live versions played in Tokyo seem to be memorable (except maybe for Shadow of the hierophant, which is fantastic in any of the way you can play it).
		Back in 1998, for only one night in Tokyo, Steve Hackett invited some of his friends to share the spotlight with him - and the result is immensely enjoyable, a mix of Hackett's original tunes, Genesis and King Crimson classics and a couple of contributions from bassist and vocalist John Wetton's variegated career.
		Overall, "The Tokyo Tapes" is surely a recommended listen for every self-respecting fan of '70s prog rock.

		Normally, I might believe that this is due to the quality of the original master tapes, but since I own the original Japanese laserdisc, which is far superior than both DVD pressings (and includes more footage!), I have to assume this is due to lack of effort and not source quality.

		The tapes for the first, Japanese re-issue of that very rare LP, was taken from a heavily worn vinyl version, thus with a lot of irritating clicks.
		I think Robert Webb, keyboard player, got hold of a copy, realised there was still a lot of interest in the music, and thought it was time to get the master tapes out of his files and re-issue the disc properly.
		As with Revisited, The Tokyo Tapes won't bring you the exact copies of your all-time Genesis-favourites (although the opener Watcher of the Skies comes pretty close).

		The first Radio Tokyo Tapes compilation has a mess of great stuff: "Paisley underground" bands like the Rain Parade, Bangles, and Long Ryders, punk tracks by the Minutemen and Wurm, arty postpunk outfits like 100 Flowers and Savage Republic, and more.
		There were two subsequent volumes which were eventually mashed along with the first into one CD, which for the most part preserved the very best songs but lost a little bit of the spirit and diversity of the LPs.

		Kalk Samen Kuri No Hana, her last solo album, is every bit as worthy of the tag "avant-pop masterpiece" as any other album that has earned the same description.
		Following that, her first album with Tokyo Jihen, Kyouiku sounds like she began with sugary (not saccharine, mind you) J-Pop melodies, fleshed things out with jazzy arrangements, and then rounded up an ace band that could execute things with all the fury of Fugazi.
		It is more that the songs seem a bit boxed-in by the instrumentation that Tokyo Jihen has to offer.
